Keiser Highlights
  • Keiser managed just six hits in the opening game, led by Garrett Hall with two.
  • Peter Crocitto had the lone extra-base hit for the Seahawks.
  • Jake Voss suffered the loss after lasting just three innings. Jake Taraska was strong out of the pen, striking out three in 0.2 innings of work. Marcus Villar threw a scoreless seventh with a strikeout.
 
Tough Stretch
Trinity scored seven unanswered runs after Keiser took the early 1-0 advantage.

How it Happened
  • Voss put himself in trouble during the second with a pair of walks and a hit batsmen but rebounded to get an inning ending fly out to center.
  • In the third, a pair of one-out errors on Trinity led to the first run of the game as Diaz ripped an RBI single through the left side to lead 1-0.
  • The Trolls tied the game in the bottom half with a two-out RBI single to center and took their first advantage in the fourth with three runs, all coming with nobody-out.
  • Trinity added three more runs fifth to lead 7-1 before Keiser attempted to rally in the sixth.
  • Nick Diaz was hit by the first pitch of the inning and moved to second on Hall's single to right. Crocitto then brought in a run with a double to left-center.
  • Back-to-back RBI ground-outs by Nate VanKan and Juan De La Cruz brought the Seahawks to within 7-4.
  • However, Kieser couldn't muster another run as they fell in game one, 7-4.

Keiser Highlights
  • Hall went 3-for-3 in the second game while Jonathan Fernandez was 2-for-3 to account for five of the Seahawks nine hits.
  • Ryan Powers earned his first win of the year, tossing four strong innings with five strikeouts. Fletcher Byrd picked up his first save of the season, tossing a perfect seventh.
 
Extra-Run
A balk on the Trolls in the fifth allowed the Seahawks to score what would become the game-winning run.

How it Happened
  • Trinity grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the first after Tholl ripped a one-out double to left.
  • The Seahawks were held scoreless until the third when they plated two runs on three hits.
  • Diaz started the inning with a double to left and scored on a double to left-center by Hall. Following the second-out of the frame, VanKan singled to center as KU took a 2-1 advantage.
  • Keiser added an insurance run in the fifth as Fernandez was rewarded home on a balk.
  • Trinity looked to make things interesting in the sixth as Wood led off with a homerun to left but the Trolls were held hitless during the remainder of the game as Keiser came out on top, 3-2.

Keiser will enjoy a day off before wrapping up the RussMatt on Monday against Aquinas in a doubleheahder. Game one is set for 9:45 a.m. at Lake Myrtle Park #4.
