KU HIGHLIGHTS
- The Keiser defense held the Spartans to just five goals, the fewest goals allowed thus far in 2019.
- Hunter East led the offense with five points on a goal and four assists. The four assists matched his career-high.
- Dylan Sharpe found the back of the net on four occasions to set a new career-high. Freshman, Ryan Johnson had a hat-trick to match his season-high output.
- John Senior was effective on the offensive end throughout the game, finishing with a goal and three assists.
- Defender, Channing Thomas collected a game-high five ground balls.
- Marco Olortegui stopped ten shots in goal to earn the victory.
TURNING POINT
No. 9 Keiser got off to a quality start to the game and was able to outscore the Spartans 4-1 in the opening quarter, a lead that was never relinquished.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sharpe and East scored the game's opening two goals, as Keiser grabbed the 2-0 lead with 12:02 remaining in the first quarter.
- After Missouri Baptist got on the scoreboard for the first time at the 11:10 mark, East assisted on both Senior and Sharpe's goals to go in front 4-1 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
- The Spartans opened the scoring in the second quarter, but once again the Seahawks had a swift response with the final two scores of the half to lead, 6-2. The Seahawks defense held the Spartans scoreless for the final 14:24 of the half.
- Missouri Baptist drew to within three with 9:03 on the clock in the third quarter, but Johnson netted two straight goals to extend the advantage to 8-3, as the game headed into the final period.
- The Seahawks continued their run as they scored the next two goals to make it 10-3 with 12:00 minutes to play in regulation. The highlight of the sequence was a man-up goal by Ryan Johnson off a feed from Senior.
- Following a man-up goal by Missouri Baptist, Anthony Ierulil scored his first collegiate goal off an assist by Tyler Kalmowitz to lead 11-4 with 9:09 to go in the fourth.
- The Spartans converted on a man-up opportunity once again with 1:49 to play, but it wasn't enough as Keiser came out on top, 11-5, moving back to .500 on the year at 4-4 with the wire-to-wire win.
