KU HIGHLIGHTS
TURNING POINT
No. 9 Keiser was within striking distance on the road against the No. 2 ranked Eagles after the opening quarter of play, but Reinhardt turned up the offense to outscore the Seahawks 7-2 in the second quarter and begin to pull away.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 2 Reinhardt came out strong with two goals in the first three minutes of the contest to take the early advantage.
- John Senior got the Seahawks on the board with an unassisted goal at the 11:28 mark to pull within one.
- The next two goals belonged to the Eagles as their lead grew to 4-1, but back-to-back goals from Sharpe drew Keiser to within a single-goal deficit, 4-3, with 3:30 remaining in the opening quarter.
- However, Reinhardt responded with the next two goals as the teams concluded the first quarter with the score, 6-3 in favor of the Eagles.
- Tyler Kalmowitz found the back of the net just 48 seconds into the second quarter but the Eagles' attack continued to find ways to fluster the Keiser defense, as Reinhardt scored on three consecutive occasions to build a 9-4 lead with 7:05 until halftime.
- Brandon Benitez got into the scoring column for the first time off a dish from Sharpe to pull within, 9-5 with 6:04 remaining in the half.
- The Eagles however concluded the opening half with four unanswered goals to extend their lead 13-5 at the break.
- RU notched the only goal of the third quarter at 9:43 mark to lead 14-5 with just one quarter to play in regulation.
- Benitez notched the first goal of the final quarter, his second marker of the game, but it proved to be the Seahawks' final score as Reinhardt went on for the 17-6 result.
