Records: No. 5 Keiser (3-4), Ottawa (1-3)
Location: Arrigo Vecellio Field – West Palm Beach, Fla.

KU HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Seahawks got off to a fast start in the rainy conditions on Arrigo Vecellio field, picking up their third victory of the season.
  • Ryan Johnson spearheaded the KU attack with four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Three other Seahawks in Tyler Kalmowitz, Dylan Sharpe, and Brandon Benitez joined Johnson with two goals apiece.
  • Aaron Collins took the vast majority of the faceoff's for the Seahawks and was able to win possession on 12-of-20 attempts.
  • Sharpe and Johnson each had six ground balls as well, but it was defender Channing Thomas that led Keiser in that category by producing nine of his own. Thomas was all over the field in front of goalkeeper Marco Olortegui, and also was able to cause four Braves turnovers.
  • Olortegui stopped 13 Ottawa shots in net to earn his third credited victory.

TURNING POINT
A strong opening quarter propelled Keiser to a big lead of 6-0, and the Seahawks were able to sustain it throughout the remainder of the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Keiser put its stamp on the game in the early going, with two unassisted scores in the first two minutes, the first by Sharpe and the second by Benitez.
  • The Keiser momentum continued throughout the first 15 minutes of play, as the Seahawks dictated play and held Ottawa without a shot all the way until there was just 59 seconds left in the opening quarter.
  • By that time, KU established a 5-0 lead, and then Johnson capped the first quarter scoring off a pass from Kalmowitz with just three seconds left to make it 6-0.
  • Ottawa broke through just 1:08 into second quarter, but Keiser responded with two consecutive goals, including a Kalmowitz's man-up tally, to lead 8-1 with 6:29 until the half.
  • The Braves recorded the next two goals but trailed the Seahawks at the halftime break, 8-3.
  • Three of the first four goals in the second half belonged to Keiser with two assists coming from Johnson, as the Seahawks pushed the advantage to 11-4 after John Senior's unassisted goal with 7:24 left to play in the third quarter.
  • The Braves then grabbed the final goal of the quarter with 3:14 remaining to get within 11-5 as the game shifted to the fourth frame.
  • Ottawa seemed to stun Keiser by netting five goals in the first five minutes to draw to within two goals at 11-9.
  • However, Keiser kept the Braves off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest to come away with the 11-9 victory.
