The Keiser women's basketball team picked up their first conference win after knocking off Thomas, 79-57 on Thursday evening. The Seahawks returned home after playing seven road game in 40 days, traveling 3,781 miles.
How it Happened
First Quarter: Keiser 13, Thomas 12
- Daniela Barrios and Emily Patton hit back-to-back three-pointers, giving Keiser a 6-0 lead with 6:35 remaining.
- Thomas used a 10-2 run to claim their first lead of the evening, 10-8, with 2:40 left in the quarter.
- After Antigonie Sanabria split a pair at the line, Alexis Powell hit a floater in the paint, giving TU their largest lead of the night, 12-9, at the 1:30 mark.
- Midori Long took over for the remainder of the quarter, tallying the final four points as Keiser led 13-12, heading to the second frame.
Second Quarter: Keiser 37, Thomas 20
- The Seahawks opened the quarter on a 10-2 run, upping their advantage to 23-14 with 6:20 to go. Lindsey O'Sullivan hit a pair of three-pointers in the stretch.
- Following a Night Hawks basket, Keiser went on a 12-0 run, extending the margin to 35-16 with one minute showing. In that time, Kelly Meade and Alasjia Dykes connected from distance.
- Keiser would go on to lead 37-20 at the halftime break with Long and O'Sullivan boasting eight points apiece.
Third Quarter: Keiser 63, Thomas 39
- TU began the quarter on an 8-2 run, trimming their deficit to 39-28 with 7:10 remaining in the quarter.
- Keiser outscored Thomas 16-7 over the next four minutes while not allowing a field goal to lead 55-35 with 3:10 left.
- The Seahawks closed the quarter on a 9-4 spurt, holding a 63-39 advantage with one quarter to go.
