Keiser men's basketball remained unbeaten through their first three Sun Conference tests, winning comfortably in their TSC home opener, 80-61 over Thomas. The victory was the Seahawks' sixth straight.
How it Happened
First Half: Keiser 40, Thomas 35
- The Seahawks scored six of the games first eight points, a run capped off by a Mark Gordon dunk on an alley-oop from Ryan Kroll.
- Kroll added two three-pointers, and at the first media timeout with 14:50 to play, KU's lead was five, 12-7.
- Thomas chipped into the deficit and eventually went ahead for the first time in the contest, using a 12-2 run to seize a 19-14 lead.
- Keiser responded with eight consecutive points on a Jermar Perkins' three-pointer, Kroll's third long ball in the early going, and a second chance stick back from Marko Orlic that brought the score to 22-19 KU.
- The sides went back-and-forth until the Seahawks' advantage eventually reached double-digits, 35-25, courtesy of a 9-2 spurt for the hosts, concluding with Kroll's fourth trifecta at the 3:37 mark.
- Thomas netted 10 of the half's final 15 points, but the Seahawks went into the break leading 40-35, led by 14 first half points from Kroll.
Second Half: Keiser 80, Thomas 61
- Thomas drew to within a single point, 40-39, with back-to-back baskets in the paint at the 17:45 mark.
- The Seahawks held off the Night Hawks and used a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 57-48 with 10:08 on the clock, with five points coming from Perkins.
- After a Thomas three-pointer, Keiser produced six unanswered points, upping their lead to 63-48 with 7:17 on the clock.
- The lead then grew to the largest of the game, 71-52, with 4:37 to play on the heels of a pair of Kroll free throws.
- Thomas never drew closer than 15 points as KU displayed solid defense and free-throw shooting to preserve the, 80-61, TSC victory.

- 5: Five Seahawks were in double-figure scoring in a balanced all-around effort.
- 5-of-6: Five of the last six games with Thomas have been won by the Seahawks.
- 9-8: The Seahawks were disruptive defensively, finishing with eight blocks and nine steals. Keiser currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA Division II in blocks per game and second in steals per game.
- 10-4: KU leads Thomas 10-4 in the all-time series.
- 12-8: Orlic finished with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds.
- 13: Perkins had 13 points to provide a scoring punch off the bench.
- 15-10-3: Chance Anderson recorded his fourth double-double of the season, complimenting his 15 points with a game-high ten rebounds and game-high three rejections.
- 18-5-4-3: Kroll finished with a new career-high 18 points to go along with a game-high five assists, four rebounds, and a game-high three steals. He was also 4-of-6 from downtown.
- 20-8-5: Gordon notched a game-high 20 points, adding eight rebounds and a game-high five assists.
- 51-38: Once again, Keiser led in the rebounding category, 51-38. Keiser has outrebounded every opponent to begin the 2019-2020 season.
- 61: The 61 points allowed for Keiser was a new season-low, as the Seahawks held the Night Hawks to 36.5 percent shooting from the field.
