Keiser men's basketball dictated play down the stretch to remain unbeaten on their home floor, winning their seventh straight game by a 90-77 score over visiting Coastal Georgia.
How it Happened
First Half: Keiser 42, Coastal Georgia 41
- With the game tied at 5-5 in the early going, the Mariners went on an 8-2 run to seize a 13-7 advantage.
- Coastal Georgia's lead would eventually grow as large as nine points, 18-9, with 15:03 on the clock. Keiser, however, drew to within a single possession, 18-15, with a 6-0 run.
- The two teams traded spurts and the CCGA lead remained at three points, 26-23, after Malcolm Mabry canned a jumper with 9:48 left in the half.
- Trailing 34-29, the Seahawks rattled off the next seven points to go in front 36-34, after Ryan Kroll sank a three-pointer with 4:06 on the clock.
- The Mariners eventually drew even at 39-39 with a three-pointer of their own, but Keiser would go into the halftime break leading 42-41, led by 12 points from Marko Orlic.
Second Half: Keiser 90, Coastal Georgia 77
- Keiser started fast with the second half's first five points, and after the teams traded baskets, the Seahawks led 49-43 with 17:33 remaining.
- The Mariners chipped into the deficit and trailed 50-48, but that was before Keiser proceeded to net the 10 of the next 12 points to establish their first double-digit advantage, 60-50, highlighted by a Chance Anderson putback slam.
- Leading 64-58 nearing the midway point of the second half, the Seahawks began to control the run of play and went on an impressive 8-0 run to go in front 72-58 with 8:35 remaining, a stretch that included two dunks from Mark Gordon in transition.
- The Seahawks lead was chipped down to 11 points, 78-67, with 4:23 on the clock. That was the closest the visitors would get for the remainder of the contest, however, as Keiser executed well to fend off the Mariners.Â
- Gordon had six points down the stretch and the Seahawks' lead grew to as large as 17 points, 88-71, before the hosts eventually sealed the 90-77 TSC victory.
