After not playing in eight days, the Keiser women's basketball team fell to No. 25 Lawrence Tech, 71-58, on Monday evening.
The Seahawks have now concluded their non-conference portion of the schedule and will flip the calendar to 2020 on Saturday against Warner in Sun Conference action.
How it Happened
First Quarter: Keiser 12, LTU 15
- Antigone Sanabria and Danielle Hudson scored the first four points for each team as the scoreboard showed 6:50.
- Lawrence Tech tallied the next six points, claiming their first lead of the game, 10-4 at the 4:59 mark.
- Sanabria drilled a three while being fouled and converted the free-throw, tying the contest at 12-12 with 1:42 to go.
- The Blue Devils drilled a three-pointer with seven seconds remaining to lead 15-12 at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter: Keiser 27, LTU 35
- After trading buckets during the opening five minutes, LTU ran off six straight points to lead 30-20 with 2:22 left.
- The Seahawks outscored Lawrence Tech 7-5 down the stretch but trailed at halftime, 35-27.
Third Quarter: Keiser 44, LTU 50
- LTU opened the second half with five straight points, claiming their largest lead of the game, 40-27, with 8:52 remaining.
- Keiser responded with a 9-0 run to get within four, 40-36, forcing Lawrence Tech to take a timeout with 5:39 to go. During the spurt, Midori Long tallied five points.
- Kelly Meade hit a three-pointer at the 4:52 mark, bringing KU to within a possession, 42-39.
- The Seahawks were unable to get any closer, trailing 50-44 with one quarter to go.
Fourth Quarter: Keiser 58, LTU 71
- Keiser did not record a field goal before the media timeout was whistled at the 4:54 mark as Lawrence Tech led 60-50. The Seahawks were 6-of-6 at the charity stripe with Emily Patton converting four of those.
- The Seahawks never trimmed the deficit to single digits, falling in the non-conference game, 71-58.
- KU recorded just one field goal in the fourth quarter but went 12-of-12 at the free-throw line.
