The Seahawks women's basketball team started conference play with a 69-61 setback against Webber International on Saturday evening. Keiser will look to get their first conference win on Saturday at Johnson & Wales.
How it Happened
First Quarter: Keiser 18, WIU 10
- The Seahawks led by two on three occasions despite three ties during the opening five minutes of play.
- In front 9-8, Nikki Saunders laid the ball in to start a 7-0 run, upping the advantage to 16-8 with 2:44 remaining in the quarter.
- Each team tallied two points during the remainder of the frame as Keiser led,18-10.
Second Quarter: Keiser 33, WIU 20
- Webber tallied the first three points of the quarter, trimming their deficit to 18-13 with 7:30 showing on the clock.
- After exchanging baskets, a pair of Antigonie Sanabria free throws ignited a 9-0 run, capped by an Alasjia Dykes three-pointer to lead 30-15 with 1:39 left in the half.
- The Warriors answered with five straight points but Emily Patton hit a three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining to lead 33-20 at the break.
Third Quarter: Keiser 48, WIU 43
- WIU outscored the Seahawks 8-3 during the opening 3:22 of the third quarter, getting to within eight, 36-28.
- Sanabria then scored the game's next six points to make it 42-28 at the 6:11 mark.
- The Warriors closed the quarter on a 15-6 spurt to trail the Seahawks, 48-43, with just ten minutes left in the contest.
Fourth Quarter: Keiser 61, WIU 69
- Following layups by both teams, Breyonna Reid hit a three-pointer to get Webber to within two, 50-48, with 9:06 left in the frame.
- A Patton jumper and Lindsey O'Sullivan three-pointer pushed the Seahawks advantage to 55-48 with 8:09 to play.
- Following a Warriors layup, Patton connected on a three to make it 58-50 with 6:07 showing on the scoreboard.
- Webber then took over, using a 13-0 run to claim their first lead of the contest, 63-58 with 1:29 remaining.
- Midori Long split a pair of free throws before WIU ran off six straight points for their largest lead of the game, 69-59, with 25 seconds to go.
- Long laid the ball in with one second remaining as Keiser dropped their conference opener, 69-61.

- 2: Long (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Sanabria (11 points and 11 rebounds) finished with double-doubles.
- 4: Keiser had four players reach double figures with O'Sullivan and Long finishing with a team-high 12 points apiece.
- 5: Kelly Meade had a team-best five assists.
- 10: The Seahawks held a 51-41 advantage on the glass.
