The No. 1 Keiser  women's soccer team used two second half goals to fend off Johnson & Wales, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory, the Seahawks remained unbeaten at home and in Sun Conference play.
  • The Seahawks nearly broke through in the 25th minute but Benedikte Schroeder's header went off the crossbar, following a corner from Kyoka Koshijma.
  • Three minutes later, Maxi Krug also nailed the crossbar from 30 yards out as the game remained scoreless.
  • Neither team found the back of the net in the first half despite Keiser outshooting Johnson & Wales, 22-2.
  • Keiser grabbed the opening goal in the 55th minute when Josefine Troneby played a perfect through ball to Koshijma.
  • In the 69th minute, Koshijma bagged her second goal of the game, this time off an assist from the Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Maja Henriksson.
  • Madeleine Berghult nearly scored the third goal of the game in the 80th minute but her shot went off the crossbar and cleared out of play.
  • The game went scoreless over the final ten minutes of play with the Seahawks coming out on top, 2-0.
 
Game Notes
  • Keiser has never lost to the Wildcats, improving to 13-0 all-time.
  • The Seahawks extended their winning streak to 13 straight.
  • Nina Haeberlin recorded her 22nd career shutout in a Seahawks uniform and 11th of the season.
  • Haeberlin tied her shutout mark from last season and is one shy of tying the program season mark. The senior is also two shutouts shy of the career record.
  • The Seahawks defense held the nation's leader scorer to just two shots in the game.
  • KU outshot the Wildcats 44-2 including a 19-1 edge on shots on goal.
  • Matilda Ovenberger led the game with six shots while Filippa Millqvist was close behind with five.
