  • Keiser suffered their first loss of the season this afternoon, falling in game three to Edward Waters, 12-7.
  • Mark Gottsacker was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI. Peter Crocitto also recorded multiple hits in the contest, including the first homerun of the year by a Seahawk.
  • Amiel Abrieu took the loss in his first start in a Seahawks uniform after lasting just 1.1 innings.

Gottsacker has enjoyed tremendous success at the start of the season, going 8-of-9 in the series with three doubles and three runs batted in.
 
How it Happened
  • Edward Waters nearly had their first lead of the series in the first with runners on second and third with nobody away, but Abreu settled down, retiring the next three batters.
  • The Tigers broke through in the second with five runs to hand Keiser their first deficit of the 2019 season.
  • The Seahawks got a pair of runs back in the bottom half, courtesy of a two-run homerun by Crocitto.
  • EWC pushed across five unearned runs in the fourth before Jonathan Fernandez got a run back in the bottom half with an RBI single to left, scoring Gottsacker, who had reached on his second double of the game but KU trailed 10-3.
  • In the fifth, Gottsacker plated a pair of runs on an RBI single to center and a two-run double to left by Miguel Casanueva brought Keiser to within 10-7.
  • Edward Waters scored the final points of the game in the sixth on an RBI double, handing KU their first loss of the 2019, 12-7.
 
Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader and fourth game of the opening series was canceled due to rain.
