Turning Point
The Seahawks ability to convert at the free-throw line proved pivotal as they went 7-of-10 in the overtime period.

How it Happened
  • Sanabria tallied seven of the Seahawks first ten points as Keiser led 10-6 at the first media timeout.
  • Webber used a 6-2 run to tie the game at 12-12, but Sanabria nailed a three-pointer with 53 seconds left to give KU a three point lead, heading into the second quarter.
  • Keiser held the Warriors scoreless for the opening four-and-half minutes while scoring five points to stretch their lead to 20-12.
  • WIU closed the gap to one possession, 24-21, at the 3:01 mark, but the Seahawks ended the half on a 6-2 spurt to lead 30-23 at the intermission.
  • Webber stormed out of the locker-room with a 16-2 run to take their first lead of the evening, 39-32, forcing Keiser into a 30 second timeout with 5:01 left in the third quarter.
  • A six point burst from the Seahawks brought them to within a point, 39-38, but would trail 45-41 at the end of three quarters of play.
  • Back-to-back layups from Rodriguez and Alasjia Dykes knotted the game at 45-45 with 9:13 remaining in the fourth.
  • The Warriors quickly regained a three point lead before Jhanai Felix laid the ball in and Long converted on an old fashion three-point play to give Keiser a 50-48 advantage at the 6:22 mark.
  • Over the next four minutes, the Seahawks played from behind despite tying the score three times until Kelly Meade buried a shot from beyond the arc to regain a 59-58 advantage.
  • Neither team tallied a point until Breyonna Reed split a pair at the line to tie the game with 30 seconds left in regulation.
  • The Seahawks had a chance to win the game out of a timeout with eight seconds left but Dyson's shot was off the mark and Webber corralled the ball, calling a timeout of their own with three seconds to go.
  • However, their shot at the buzzer was no good and the Sun Conference game would head to overtime, tied at 59-59.
  • Keiser outscored the home team 11-5 in the overtime period while going 7-of-10 at the charity stripe to prevail, 70-64. Dyson had seven points and Saunders had the other four points in the extra-period.

Coach's Corner with Pam Oswald
Rebounding was big tonight, talk about how the team was able to get on the glass?

We talked a lot in game prep bout how well Webber crashes the boards & that we needed to limit their second chance opportunities. At the same time we needed to crash offensively to gain control & get stuck back points.

How was the team able to regroup after a tough third quarter?
The third quarter was a test for us to get rooted in playing together. The game is a game of runs & we need to be able to maintain composure thru those ups & downs. I felt tonight our team did that with multiple people taking the lead in keeping us focused.

Free throws were key in the overtime period tonight as the Seahawks went 7-of-10, talk about how practicing paid off tonight?
In a game like this you have to have players who will step to the line with confidence & tonight we had that down the stretch - players making plays.
