The Seahawks women's tennis team wrapped up the ITA Regional Championships on Saturday at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, Fla.

In singles, KU freshman, Anais Gabriel took down the No. 1 seed and teammate Daniela Farfan 6-4, 6-0 to claim the ITA Regional Championship. Gabriel will now advance to the ITA Oracle Cup from Oct. 10-14 at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

During doubles play, the top-seeded tandem of Daniela Farfan/Sarah Schaerer fell to SCAD's Sukkanha & Weber 6-4, 6-3.

Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "Of course we have mixed feelings today as it is always hard to watch teammates compete against one another. However, we are happy to see how we competed for this entire tournament. For Anais to come through as an unseeded freshman and beat her teammate in the final was great to see as she has been playing at a high level all week. Now we will start to prepare for the Oracle Cup in just less than 10 days but for today we will let Anais enjoy the moment".
