The No. 12 Seahawks women's soccer team dropped a double-overtime heartbreaker to No. 11 Marian 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their trip to Ohio. The loss is the just the first of the season for the Seahawks.

Keiser put nine shots on goal during today's contest but only found the back of the net once as Brenna Malatestinic made eight key saves for the Knights.
 
How it Happened
  • Keiser jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the 14th minute as Linnea Axengren beat the keeper for her first goal of the season off an assist by Maxi Krug.
  • The Seahawks went on to fire two more shots on goal but neither found the back of the net as the contest went into the halftime break.
  • Marian drew even in the 56th minute as Kellie Cavanaugh riffled a shot from the top of the box to make it 1-1.
  • Keiser held a 3-1 advantage on shots down the stretch but the contest would head into overtime for the first time this season.
  • Kyoka Koshijma nearly won the game for the Seahawks in the 93rd minute but her shot went off the crossbar and out of play.
  • In double overtime, the Knights drew a foul in the box in the 105th minute, setting up a penalty kick.
  • Courtney Denney stepped up and drilled the ball to the right corner, handing Keiser their first loss of the year.
 
Game Notes
  • This afternoon's meeting was the first in program history between these two teams.
  • Krug has picked up at least a point in all four contests this season, while today was the first game that she hasn't scored in.
  • Keiser outshot Marian 17-10 with Filippa Millqvist having a game-best five shots.
  • Nina Haeberlin suffered her first Keiser loss in goal despite making three saves.
  • The first NAIA Top 25 national poll will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
