Match Summary
The top-ranked Seahawks breezed past No. 8 Cardinal Stritch 5-0 in the Quarterfinal round of the NAIA Tennis National Championship on Thursday. After sweeping through doubles play, the match was put on hold for several hours due to weather in the area, but the Seahawks were not fazed when play resumed, snagging two quick points to win the match. Keiser's win is their fourth consecutive shutout, and 14th shutout of the season.

Doubles
  • The Seahawks bagged the opening point of the afternoon with an 8-3 win out of the No. 3 doubles position from Ana Pinto and Emma Henriksen.
  • The KU advantage was quickly doubled as the second-ranked duo in the nation, Daniela Farfan and Megane Bianco, notched an 8-3 victory in the top spot over No. 19 Assya Trimari and Chelsea Kelly.
  • Keiser then completed the sweep through doubles play as the seventh-ranked team of Julianna Heino and Aleksandra Grela handled Lisa Keller and Livia Hollosy with ease, 8-3.

Singles
  • For the second consecutive day, rain and lightning in the area forced a stoppage in play for almost four hours, with the Seahawks leading on all six courts.
  • The Seahawks picked up right where they left off before the delay, as No. 3 Farfan shutout No. 29 Trimari in straight sets out of the top spot, pulling Keiser within one of clinching the match.
  • The KU victory was secured just minutes later in the third position as No. 37 Grela blanked Luisa Gruber in consecutive sets.
  • For the second time in as many days, Keiser led on all four remaining courts when the match was finished.

Coach's Corner
ITA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year Daniel Finn said, "Ladies did a great job of handling business today. We had to deal with another weather delay and the girls came out of the delay even stronger. I'm really proud of how they have dealt with the delays and distractions of it. Great to get on and off the court this afternoon and have time to rest up before tomorrow morning's semifinal."

Up Next
The top-ranked Seahawks are back in action tomorrow morning, beginning at 10:00 a.m., taking on the winner of No. 5 Brenau and No. 4 Lindsey Wilson in the NAIA Semifinals.
