Keiser Highlights
  • Third-seeded Keiser took down No. 13 and second-seed Lyon in the Lawrenceville region by the final of 8-2 on Monday afternoon, advancing to the winner's bracket tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
  • This afternoon's game was the second meeting all-time between these two teams with the last coming in 2015 at the Faulkner Regional.
  • With his tenth win of the year, Alec Lamrouex tied the program record for most wins by a pitcher in a season along with Daniel Garmendia.
  • Carlos Lopez led the team in hits with three, while Tivon Faneyte and Karsten Sherman had two hits apiece. Ryan Gronlier and Lopez both finished with two runs batted in.

Turning Point
Lamrouex led the Seahawks to a win on the mound, throwing eight shutout innings en route to his tenth win of the season. The transfer senior struck out a pair of batters while making it two consecutive starts without allowing an earned run.

How it Happened
  • The Seahawks opened the game with back-to-back walks before Faneyte popped up to the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Lopez then brought home both runners with a first-pitch double to right field for a 2-0 advantage.
  • Gronlier used clutch two-out hitting to double the lead by delivering a two-run single to left, scoring Lopez and Sherman.
  • Faneyte ballooned the advantage to 5-0 in the fifth by connecting on the first pitch he saw to the left-center gap for a double, scoring CJ Fitzpatrick from first.
  • Keiser added two more runs in the inning on consecutive RBI doubles from Sherman and Peter Crocitto to make it 7-0.
  • Lyon threatened in the sixth and seventh innings with runners on the corners and two-away but Lamrouex got inning-ending fly outs in each.
  • In the ninth, a wild pitch allowed Faneyte to come across for the final Seahawk run of the game, upping the margin to 9-0.
  • The Scots spoiled the shutout in the ninth with a one-out RBI single and a two-out bases loaded walk but came up short, 8-2.
