Turning Point
The Seahawks trailed by a run in the fourth when Fitzpatrick cranked his second long ball of the day to put Keiser up 6-5.
How it Happened
- Fitzpatrick continued his hot-hitting at the plate with a one-out, first-pitch solo home run to left in the first.
- Following a groundout to second, Lopez and Faneyte connected on back-to-back doubles to extend the margin to 2-0.
- Warner then used three singles in the bottom half to push across a run but the Seahawks got the run back in the second with a sacrifice fly to center from Pena, making it 3-1.
- Gronlier made it a three-run game in the third with a two-out RBI single to center, plating Rivera who led off the frame with a single through the left side.
- However, the Royals exploded back in the bottom half with four runs on five hits to claim their first lead of the game, 5-4.
- In the fourth, Fitzpatrick crushed his second homer of the day, this time a two-run shot, putting Keiser back in front, 6-5. Warner then walked the next four batters to push across another Seahawk to make it 7-5.
- Lopez made it a three-run game again with a solo shot to left center in the sixth and an RBI single up the middle by Pena in the seventh raised the margin to 9-5.
- KU grew their lead to as many as five, 10-5 in the eighth as Gronlier ripped an RBI single to center, bringing in Lopez, who reached on an error.
- The Royals pushed across two runs in the bottom half to get within 10-7 but Darrien Ragins came to record his fourth save of the year in the ninth.
