Keiser Highlights
- The Seahawks played their first extra-inning contest of the season but came up short in ten innings against former Sun Conference foe, and now NCAA Division II Embry-Riddle. These two teams hadn't met since the 2015 season.
- All nine starters for Keiser recorded a hit but only two players had multiple hits in the contest.
- CJ Fitzpatrick was a near impossible out at the plate going 5-for-6 with one double. Carlos Lopez was the other player with two hits including a pair of runs batted in.
Turning Point
Cole Habirg swung at the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the tenth with runners on first and second, driving the ball into the right-center gap, scoring Kyle Marsh from second, lifting ERAU to the win.
How it Happened
- Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first before the Seahawks equalized the game in the third.
- Fitzpatrick led off the frame with a double down the left field line, the first hit for the Seahawks. Following a popup to second, Lopez drilled the first pitch he saw for a double to left, scoring Fitzpatrick.
- ERAU then induced a groundout for the second out of the inning but Tivon Faneyte tied the game with an RBI single up the middle.
- Keiser then plated three more runs in the fourth to claim their first lead of the evening. Miguel Casanueva and Jonathan Fernadez led off with back-to-back single before a throwing error by the shortstop, trying to double up the Seahawks on a line drive allowed a runner to come in, giving KU a 3-2 advantage. A pair of RBI singles by Fitzpatrick and Lopez pushed the margin to 5-2.
- The Seahawks made it a four-run game in the sixth as Peter Crocitto delivered a one-out RBI single through the right side, plating Carlos Pena, who reached on a one-out single to left.
- However, the Eagle pushed across four runs in the bottom half and another run in the seventh to reclaim a 7-6 advantage.
- Keiser went scoreless over the next two innings before scoring the tying run in the ninth on a clutch two-out RBI single to right by Anfernee Torruella, sending the game into extra innings for the first time this season.
- The Seahawks were unable to score in the top half before ERAU notched the game-winner. Marsh led off with a single to third and moved up to second a fly out to left. After Howard was intentionally walked, Habig connected on the game-winner with a double to right center.
