Keiser Highlights
  • All nine starters recorded a hit as the Seahawks went off for 14 in the opening game of the four-game series.
  • Seven of the nine KU batters recorded at least one run batted in with Karsten Sherman having a team-best two.
  • Sherman led four players with multi-hit performances as the junior had a game-best three hits including a two-run home run.
  • Victor Hughes pitched five innings while allowing five hits and striking out three batters, earning his fourth win of the campaign.

Turning Point
The Seahawks made it rain singles in the first inning as Keiser connected on seven while scoring five runs for a 5-0 advantage.

How it Happened
  • The Seahawks jumped off to a 5-0 lead in the first as they batted through the order and recorded seven hits, all of which were singles.
  • The Tigers threatened to score in the third as Bryan Rodriguez reached on a single to right field, stole second, and advanced to third on a fly out to the center. However, Hughes settled down and got Jordan Pontious to fly out to right center, ending the frame.
  • Keiser then tacked on a sixth run in the bottom half as Jonathan Fernandez drove in Miguel Casanueva with a single to left.
  • EWC nearly plated their first run in the fifth as Bryan Roridguez attempted to score from second on a single to center but Tivon Faneyte threw him out at home with a perfect throw.
  • However, the Tigers got on the board in the very next inning on an RBI groundout to short by Wyatt Reid, getting to within 6-1.
  • Keiser answered right back in the bottom half with a pair of home runs over the blue monster, including a solo shot by Carlos Pena and a two-run blast by Sherman, winning 9-1.

Game 2:
Keiser Highlights
  • Keiser recorded six hits in the second game with Faneyte leading the way with two, including a solo home run.
  • Reigning Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week, Alec Lamrouex threw his second straight complete game, holding EWC to two runs and inducing 14 groundouts.

Turning Point
Faneyte's home run in the top of the fourth proved to be the difference in the game, giving Keiser their first lead of game two, 3-2.

How it Happened
  • EWC opened the scoring in the first with a pair of runs coming with one-out. The first runner came in on a double down the right-field line, followed by an RBI single to center. However, Lamrouex limited the damage by inducing an inning-ending 1-4-3 double play.
  • Keiser threatened to score in the bottom half of the first with runners on the corners and nobody out but Richardson recorded three straight fly outs to end the frame.
  • Ryan Gronlier put the Seahawks on the board in the second with a two-run shot over the blue monster, tying the game at 2-2.
  • The Seahawks then took their first lead of the second game in the fourth as Faneyte belted a leadoff solo shot to left. Keiser looked to expand their lead as they loaded the bases with one-out but Peter Crocitto grounded into an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.
  • KU went on to add an insurance run in the sixth as Miguel Casanueva scored on a Gronlier RBI fielder's choice, lifting KU to the 4-2 victory and completing the doubleheader sweep.
