KU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Today's game was a rematch of the 2017 NAIA National Championship game with the Seahawks falling again to the Eagles, 16-9.
  • Craig Marentette led the offense with a hat-trick while Nolan Duncan and Hunter East finished with two goals apiece.
  • Christian Esquilin led the way in the face-off circle, going 16-of-27, and had a game-best six ground balls.
  • Dylan Sharpe and Anthony Bressi split time in goal with Bressi leading the way with five saves in the second half.

TURNING POINT
The Seahawks closed to within 6-3 at the 7:19 mark of the second quarter when the Eagles closed the half with three unanswered goals to lead 9-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Reinhardt scored the first three goals of the contest before Marentette notched his first goal of the day with 2:42 remaining in the quarter.
  • The Eagles capitalized on a man-up opportunity to extend the margin to 4-1 entering the second quarter.
  • The teams exchanged a pair of goals in the second before Reinhardt closed the half with three consecutive tallies to lead 9-3 at the break.
  • East and Marentette found the back of the net to pull KU to within 9-5 but Reinhardt closed the period on a 5-2 spurt to make it 14-7.
  • Both teams netted a pair of goals in the final quarter with Reinhardt coming away with the 16-9 victory and handing the Seahawks their first home loss in program history.
