Keiser Highlights
  • St. Thomas held a narrow 15-14 edge in hits during the non-conference game but Justin Lara and Miguel Casanueva finished with a game-best three hits apiece.
  • Casanueva drilled a pair of home runs while Carlos Lopez had a grand slam in the third.
  • Lopez also drove in a game-best five runs and Casanueva was close behind with three.
  • Keiser's pitching staff struck out nine batters on the evening with Victor Hughes having five of them in relief. Hughes also recorded his second win of the year on the mound.

Turning Point
The Seahawks trailed 2-0 in the third when they exploded for six runs, highlighted by a grand slam from Lopez to take a 6-2 advantage.

How it Happened
  • St. Thomas plated the game's first two runs in the second before the Seahawks stormed back with six of their own the third.
  • Three straight singles loaded the bases when Jonathan Fernandez lifted a sacrifice fly to center, getting to within a run.
  • Following a pop up to short, Marco Rivera was intentially walked to reload the bases with two outs. A walk to Karsten Sherman tied the game and a grand slam to left by Lopez gave the Seahawks a 6-2 advantage.
  • The Bobcats got a pair of runs back in the bottom half but Casanueva blasted a solo shot in the fourth, making it 7-4.
  • The Seahawks pushed three more runs across in the fifth on a one-out RBI double from Lopez and a two-out, two-run single up the middle by Lara to lead 10-4.
  • For the third time in the game, the Seahawks loaded the bases with one out in the seventh but were unable to score as STU got the next two batters to fly out.
  • The Bobcats then plated two runs in the eighth on a pair of two-out doubles before Casanueva crushed a three-run home run, his second of the evening, upping the margin to 13-6.
  • Peter Crocitto scored the final two-runs for the Seahawks with a double to center, pushing the advantage to 15-6.
  • St. Thomas scratched across four runs in the bottom half but it wasn't enough as the Seahawks came away with the non-conference victory, 15-9.
