TURNING POINT
The Seahawks trailed 4-2 early in the second quarter when a
Cruz Waerness goal started a 6-0 run to take an 8-4 advantage with 1:13 left in the frame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tennessee Wesleyan struck just 57 seconds into the game when Marentette equalized the contest with a man-up goal off a feed by Hunter East with 12:17 left in the opening quarter.
- The teams then traded goals before the Bulldogs scored two consecutive goals to take a 4-2 advantage with 14:11 showing in the second quarter.
- The Seahawks came right back with six straight tallies to lead 8-4, their first advantage of the afternoon.
- However, the Bulldogs netted the final goal of the half with 11 seconds remaining to get within three at the halftime break.
- A defensive third quarter ensued with both teams finding the back of the net just once and KU keeping a 9-6 lead heading into the final period.
- Keiser started fast with three consecutive goals capped off by Dylan Sharpe's first collegiate goal, upping the margin to 12-6 with 12:47 to go.
- The Seahawks outscored the Bulldogs 3-2 down the stretch with Esquillin capping off the game with a face-off win and going right to the cage and scoring for the 15-8 victory.Â
