Turning Point
Chris Graffeo's ability to come out of the bullpen with runners on second and third in a 4-3 game in the top of the sixth. Graffeo worked the count to 2-2 before roaring back and getting Cook to swing and miss, ending the threat. The Seahawks went on to score six runs down the stretch to come away with the series sweep.
Â
How it Happened
- Point plated a pair of unearned runs in the first before KU answered with three unearned runs of their own in the bottom half.
- Rivera scored the opening run for the Seahawks with a double to left and a sacrifice fly to center by Lopez knotted the game at 2-2. Anfernee Torruella then pushed Keiser ahead 3-2 with a two-out RBI single left.
- The Skyhawks used timely hitting in the third with a two-out single to right field, tying the game at 3-3.
- However, the Seahawks got a run back in the bottom half when Crocitto laced a hit back at the pitcher and a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Miguel Casanueva to score for a 4-3 advantage.
- Point threatened to tie the game in the sixth with runners on second and third but Graffeo came out of the pen to pick up a huge strikeout, ending the frame.
- Keiser then upped the margin to 5-3 in the bottom half on a Fernandez double down the left field, scoring Olive, who reached on a single. Lara followed with an RBI single to the shortstop, making it a three-run game.
- The Seahawks capitalized on a pair of Point miscues in the seventh, scoring on a throwing error and a hit by pitch to make it 8-3.
- Graffeo and Justin Lara combined for just one hit in the final 3.1 innings while racking up three strikeouts.
