No. 2 Men's Lacrosse Suffers Setback to Florida Tech

KU HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Seahawks suffered their first loss of the 2018 campaign this afternoon on the road at NCAA Division II, Florida Tech.
  • Craig Marentette led the offensive charge with three goals, all coming in the first half of play.
  • Hunter East recorded the first multi-goal performance of his freshman season.
  • Dylan Sharpe had a game-best nine ground balls in net for Keiser and made 13 saves in the process.
  • The 20 goals allowed were the most in program history by the Seahawks.

TURNING POINT
The Seahawks battled back to knot the game at 2-2 in the opening quarter but Florida Tech responded with six straight goals to take an 8-2 advantage with 2:09 remaining in the second period.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Florida Tech netted the opening two goals before Marentette scored on consecutive possessions to tie the game at 2-2 with 3:47 remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Panthers answered with the final two goals of the quarter to hold a 4-2 lead, heading into the second.
  • Florida Tech found the back of the net four times before Marentette completed his hat-trick off an assist by Justin Flint to trail 8-3 with 2:09 left in the second quarter.
  • However, the Seahawks conceded a pair of late goals to trail 10-3 at the halftime break.
  • The Panthers opened the new half with a goal before East tallied the next two goals to climb within 11-5.
  • Florida Tech closed the quarter with three unanswered goals to take a 14-5 lead into the final frame.
  • In the fourth, the Panthers outscored the Seahawks 6-2, handing KU their first loss of the year, 20-7.
