Turning Point
A 7-0 run by Southeastern drew the Fire to within just two points, 57-55, with 3:33 left in the game, setting the stage for what was a nerve wracking finish to the second half of the Saturday doubleheader in the Student Life Center.
How it Happened
- No. 11 Southeastern came out and scored 15 of the game's first 17 points to lead 15-2 with 12:21 on the clock.
- SEU grew their lead to as large as 29-10, with 5:33 to play before the Seahawks outscored the Fire 19-4 to conclude the half.
- In the final three minutes, KU went on an impressive 11-0 run started by an Orlic jumper and concluding with a buzzer-beating Orlic floater on a nice push up the court from CJ Fisher to trail 33-29.
- Keiser tied the game for the first time since the opening tipoff when Radulovic made it all the way to the cup with a driving layup to make it 37-37 with 17:14 on the clock.
- The Seahawks then took their first lead of the game, 44-39, on the heels of 7-2 run which was capped by a huge Matt Mckewin three-pointer at the 14:18 mark.
- The Fire regained a lead at 48-47 as part of a 6-0 run, but the Seahawks responded with ten unanswered points to seize its largest advantage of the game, 57-48 with 8:25 remaining following an emphatic dunk from Matic with a foul as well.
- Southeastern had a response of its own to draw back to within a possession, 57-55, with seven straight points and 3:33 on the clock, and the Fire soon after went back in front 60-59 with 1:48 left after an old-fashioned three point play from guar, Isaiah Moody.
- Radulovic proceeded to put the Seahawks ahead 61-60 with a nifty drive and score with 1:16 to play, and it was evident a tight finish was in store.
- After the two teams turned the ball over, the Fire had an opportunity to go ahead. Aaron Gedeon however came up with a massive block on a driving layup attempt, and Radulovic corralled the rebound before being intentionally fouled with 14 ticks left.
- Radulovic hit the back rim on the front end of the 1-and-1, and after the Fire grabbed the rebound, the Seahawks were called for a foul on a hard drive from the Fire's Josiah Barsh with just five seconds left.
- Barsh made both free-throws to put Southeastern ahead 62-61, and Radulovic dribbled up the court to fire a three-pointer at the buzzer that was on line but went just long off the back rim.
