The sixth-ranked women's soccer team shutout USCB 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon to advance to The Sun Conference Tournament Championship on Friday. Keiser will be looking to claim their fifth championship in program history after falling short last season to Southeastern.

Keiser dominated the entire semifinal as the Seahawks outshot the Sand Sharks 53-0.
 
How it Happened
  • The Seahawks netted the first goal of the game in the 18th minute as Tova Nilsson played an excellent cross from the right side and was one-touched in by Matilda Ovenberger.
  • Keiser held a 29-0 advantage on shots in the opening half but only tallied a single goal.
  • Ovenberger broke the freshman goal record in the 66th minute, slotting the ball to the far post off a through ball from Nilsson.
  • Kyoka Koshijma then sealed the game in the 85th minute as she found the back of the net off a cross from Alice Blixt, winning 3-0.
 
Game Notes
  • Keiser outscored the Sand Sharks 9-0 in their two meetings this season.
  • The Seahawks improved to 9-0-0 all-time against USCB.
  • For the second straight year, KU notched a shutout in the semifinal round.
  • Ovenberger is now the freshman record holder for most goals, surpassing Lisa Ohberg's mark of 26 in 2008.
  • For the second straight game, Nina Haeberlin didn't see a single shot in the contest. The junior now has seven shutouts on the year.
  • Ovenberger recorded a season-best 17 shots with 16 of them on target.
  • Keiser also held a 9-0 edge on corner kicks in the semifinal.

With the win, the Seahawks advance to the championship match on Friday at a location to be determined. KU will take on the winner of Southeastern University and Johnson & Wales University. If SEU wins, the match will be played in Lakeland, Florida but if JWU wins, Keiser will host.
