Game Summary:
First Quarter Highlights:
- This NAIA National Game of the Week was a gritty contest and here is how it unfolded…
- On Keiser's first drive of the game, quarterback Eli Mathews was intercepted by John Preyer at Ave Maria's 10-yard line. Â With 12:01 remaining Ave's offense took possession.
- Keiser's defense would answer with a key stop on 4th and 10 when defensive back Marques Gayot made the tackle for a loss of three yards. Â Keiser's offense took over at their own 47-yard line with 6:02 remaining.
- On the third play of the following drive, Ave's Dylan Bryan picked off a pass from Mathews with 4:47 left.  Ave's offense took over at their own 46-yard line. Â
- However, neither team could get rolling offensively, and the first quarter would come to an end with a score of Keiser 0, Ave Maria 0.
Â
Second Quarter Highlights:
- The second quarter would begin with four consecutive punts, two from each team.
- A big play would come with 4:56 left in the half when Keiser's defense blocked an Ave field goal attempt. This gave the Seahawks offense possession at their own 33-yard line.
- Keiser was not able to capitalize, however, as they were forced to punt the ball away with 2:04 remaining.
- After a defensive struggle, the first half would conclude with a score of Keiser 0, Ave Maria 0.
Â
Third Quarter Highlights:
- Ave Maria struck first in the second half after compiling a ten-play, 49-yard drive that culminated in a three-yard touchdown run by Quino Mauricette. Â Following a made extra point attempt, the score was Ave Maria 7, Keiser 0.
- After defensive stands from both teams, we would head into the final quarter with the score remaining Ave Maria 7, Keiser 0.
Â
Fourth Quarter Highlights:
- The first points in the fourth quarter would come from a successful 23-yard field attempt by Ave Maria kicker Brandon Butry. This pushed the score to Ave Maria 10, Keiser 0 with 14:05 left to play.
- Keiser's offense would find its rhythm on the following drive, as they marched down the field only to be faced with a 4th and goal situation at Ave's one-yard line. KU decided to go for the touchdown, but a high snap erased any chance of putting points on the board.
- After forcing a punt from Ave's offense on the next drive, the Seahawks offense managed to piece together an eight play, 96-yard drive ending in a one-yard rushing touchdown from Marques Burgess.
- Following a made extra point attempt, the score was Ave Maria 10, Keiser 7 with only 1:39 remaining on the clock.
- The Seahawks defense stood strong and forced a punt from the Gyrenes after only five plays. Keiser would get the ball back on their own 35-yard line with 1:08 still on the clock.
- However, a holding penalty on a critical 4th and 6 ended Keiser's hopes of a comeback.
- After a rugged defensive struggle, the final score was Ave Maria 10, Keiser 7. Â Â Â
