Game Summary:

First Quarter Highlights:

  • The Keiser Seahawks played their final regular season contest against the Southeastern Fire and it was a thriller. Here is how it unfolded…

  • On the Fire's first drive of the game, Keiser linebacker Ronnie Bennett forced a fumble that was recovered by fellow defensive back Marques Gayot.  The Seahawk offense would take over at their own 19-yard line with 13:10 remaining.

  • After a three-and-out from Keiser, Marques Gayot would snag his third interception of the season off a pass attempt from Southeastern quarterback Cooper Jones with 8:49 left on the clock.

  • On the following drive, Seahawk kicker Logan Robinson was able to convert on a 28-yard field goal attempt to put Keiser ahead by three with 7:03 remaining.   

Second Quarter Highlights:

  • The first action of the second quarter came when Fire defensive back Jimiah Albritton intercepted a pass from Eli Mathews to give Southeastern the ball back on their own 19-yard line with 11:01 to go.

  • However, the Seahawks defense would answer swiftly when senior defensive tackle Devan Kinlaw jumped on a fumble by Cooper Jones.  Keiser's offense would take over on Southeastern's 32-yard line.

  • On the very next play Eli Mathews would connect with wide receiver Jonathan Santos on a 32-yard touchdown bomb down the right sideline.  After a made extra point, the score was Keiser 10, Southeastern 0 with 9:27 remaining.

  • The Fire would get on the board with 4:47 left in the half, when Cooper Jones hit his favorite target wide receiver Antwain Adams for an 11-yard touchdown pass.  After a made extra point, the score was Keiser 10, Southeastern 7.

  • The Fire would close out the half with a nine play, 42-yard drive resulting in a made 22-yard field goal from kicker David Larson.  The score after two quarters of play was Keiser 10, Southeastern 10.

Third Quarter Highlights:

  • The Fire would strike first in the second half, stringing together an 11 play, 54-yard drive that culminated in a 42-yard field goal from David Larson.  Southeastern led by a score of 13-10 with 8:46 left.

  • The Seahawk defense would come up with yet another big play, when at the 6:37 mark, defensive end Robenson Lafleur forced a fumble that was recovered by Alessandro Cantillo.  Keiser's offense would take over on the Fire 40-yard line.

  • Three plays later, the Seahawks would go for it on fourth and nine, but came up short when the pass to wide receiver Jamal Polk was incomplete.

  • At the end of the third quarter, the game remained close with a score of Keiser 10, Southeastern 13.

Fourth Quarter Highlights:

  • Southeastern came out swinging in the fourth, as they went on a seven play, 72 yard drive that resulted in a six yard touchdown run from Bryan Bell.  After a made extra point, the score was Southeastern 20, Keiser 10 with 13:30 left to play.

  • Keiser would respond with a 10 play, 83 yard drive capped off by a four yard touchdown run from Marques Burgess.  The Seahawks were now within three points of the Fire with 5:42 remaining.

  • However, the Fire would soon extend their lead by reeling off a seven play, 75 yard drive.  Running back Tyrell Williams ran five yards into the end zone to make the score Southeastern 27, Keiser 17 with only 2:44 left in the game.

  • The Fire's pass rush would take over on Keiser's final offensive possession, ensuring victory for Southeastern.

  • After an entertaining contest, the final score was Southeastern 27, Keiser 17.

  • The Seahawks capitalized on their scoring chances going 2-for-2 in the red zone with one touchdown and one field goal.

Offense

  • #82 Wide receiver Jonathan Santos had a impact performance with two catches for 59 yards and one touchdown.

  • #25 Running back Marques Burgess posted 104 yards and one touchdown on 21 rushing attempts.

Defense

  • #21 Cornerback DeAndre Henderson racked up 14 tackles and two tackles for loss.  

  • #27 Safety Troy Sloan finished with 12 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.

Special Teams

  • #18 Punter Jarrett Mills punted the ball eight times for 300 yards, giving him and average of 37.5 yards per punt.
