Game Summary:
First Quarter Highlights:

  • The Seahawks squared off against in-state competitor Warner University, and here is how the contest unfolded...
  • The Warner Royals came out swinging on their first possession, as elusive freshman running back, Ralph Hughey broke free for a 32-yard touchdown run.  After a made extra-point, the score was Warner 7, Keiser 0 with 12:27 remaining.
  • It did not take long for Keiser's freshman running back, Marques Burgess, to answer with a 28-yard touchdown run of his own.  After a made extra-point from Jarrett Mills, the score was tied at seven apiece with 8:33 left.
  • On the following drive, Warner showcased their big-play threat in 6'3" 215 lb. junior wide receiver, Theodore Hammonds, as he hauled in a 36-yard pass from quarterback, Michael Young to give the Royals a first-and-goal on the Keiser six-yard line.
  • Just two plays later, Young connected with Hammonds for a four-yard touchdown reception. The score now stood at Warner 14, Keiser 7 at the 3:19 mark.

Second Quarter Highlights:
  • After a Keiser punt, Warner constructed a nine play, 68-yard yard drive that resulted in a successful 30-yard field goal from kicker Justin Dalton, pushing the score to Warner 17, Keiser 7 with 9:17 remaining.
  • The Seahawks answered promptly, as, on their next possession, Eli Mathews led an eight play, 66-yard drive that culminated in a 12-yard touchdown reception from tight end, Jaylen Arnold.  The score jumped to Warner 17, Keiser 14 with 4:40 left in the half.
  • It was Keiser's defense that put points on the board next as cornerback, Deandre Henderson took an interception back 22 yards for a touchdown.  With 2:58 remaining, Keiser took their first lead of the day 20-17.
  • On the very next drive, nickel corner DeMadre Bruten intercepted a pass from Michael Young, giving Keiser the ball back on their own 36-yard line.
  • Mathews proceeded to complete four straight passes, the last of which was a six-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Carlos Silencieux with only 13 seconds to spare.  At the end of the first half, the score was Keiser 27, Warner 17.

Third Quarter Highlights:
  • On Warner's second possession of the quarter, receiver Theodore Hammonds caught an eight-yard pass but took a hit from cornerback, Sage-Chen Young that dislodged the football.  Defensive end, Luckaad Dorsainvil then recovered the fumble to give Keiser's offense the ball at their own 38-yard line with 4:32 remaining.
  • However, the Seahawks were unable to capitalize on the turnover and went three-and-out.
  • This led to a 44-yard field goal attempt from Warner, but kicker Justin Dalton made very little contact with the football which resulted in a turnover on downs.
  • The quarter ended with Mathews hitting Silencieux for a 13-yard reception, giving KU's offense the ball at their own 42-yard line.

Fourth Quarter Highlights:
  • There was no shortage of excitement in the final quarter, as on the very first play, Warner's Daryl Weaver returned a Mathews fumble 20-yards to give Warner's offense the ball at Keiser's 17-yard line.
  • With first-and-goal on the Keiser six-yard line, Chen-Young came up with a touchdown-saving interception in the back corner of the end zone with 12:49 left in the game.  This was Chen-Young's team-leading sixth interception of the season.
  • After Keiser's offense was forced to punt, Warner's offense marched down the field and looked poised to score with under five minutes remaining.  However, hybrid defensive back, Marques Gayot intercepted a pass from Andre Tommie, and returned it 31 yards to set up Keiser's offense on Warner's 46-yard line.
  • That was all Keiser needed to close out the game, as they went on a nine play, 35-yard drive to secure the victory.  The final score was Keiser 27, Warner 17.

Keiser Standout Stats:
  • Keiser's secondary turned in another strong performance, recording a total of four interceptions for 53 yards and one touchdown.
