Turning Point
The turning point this afternoon occurred in the fourth quarter after the Wildcats opened with nine unanswered points to regain a 51-43 lead at 7:40 mark. Johnson & Wales would not relinquish the advantage during the remainder of the contest.
How it Happened
- Diamond Williams scored all nine of Johnson & Wales first-quarter points as they led the Seahawks 9-6.
- The Wildcats stretched their advantage to 14-7 before a Ja'nea Davis layup sparked a 9-2 run to tie the game at 16-16 with 4:15 remaining.
- After both teams traded three-pointers, a Trisic layup gave Keiser their first advantage of the game, 21-19, at the 2:54 mark.
- Johnson & Wales then connected on a basket from beyond the arc to go back in front, but a Meade jumper with 18 seconds left gave KU the slim, 23-22, lead at the halftime break.
- Following a pair of ties, four straight points by Trisic put the Seahawks back ahead, 30-26, with 6:48 showing on the board.
- JWU answered with a 6-1 spurt to briefly regain a 32-31 advantage before a Trisic three-pointer sparked an 8-2 spurt to put Keiser back in front by their largest margin of the game, 39-34, with 2:32 left in the period.
- However, the Wildcats tallied the next five points to knot the game at 39-apiece but the Seahawks clung to a 43-42 lead heading into the final quarter on a pair of Kyrah James free throws.
- Johnson & Wales started the fourth on a 9-0 run to take a 51-43 advantage and not allow the Seahawks any closer than five, 57-52, at the 2:18 mark.
- The visitors then converted clutch free throws down the stretch to come away with the 68-59 Sun Conference win.
