The Seahawks volleyball team notched their first win of the season by sweeping host Concordia Ann Arbor on day one of the kickoff classic. Transfer senior,
Amanda Medlock paced the offense with a match high 12 kills, while
Faryn Salazar also had a match best 19 assists.
Set One
Keiser led in the early going by a slim margin before Concordia took their lone lead of the set at 4-3. A service error by the Cardinals quickly tied and an assisted block by Medlock and
Lindsey Keegan gave the Seahawks a one-point advantage until it was tied at 8-8. Back-to-back kills by
Rasheena Mansel and
Abbie Seward helped Keiser outscore the home team 6-1, stretching the margin to 13-9. The Cardinals got as close as 15-13, when a Keegan kill helped the Seahawks close the set on a 10-2 run, winning, 25-15.
Set Two
Keiser trailed 10-7 when a Williams's kill propelled a 4-1 spurt to tie the set at 11-11. Five ties along with CUAA holding a one-point lead ensued before a Williams kill helped Keiser score the next four points to go in front, 19-16. Concordia got as close as 19-18 but the Seahawks outscored them 6-3 to win, 25-21.
Set Three
The Cardinals jumped out to a 6-2 advantage when an
Alyssa Robinson kill helped Keiser close to within 6-5. After Concordia won the next two points, a service error began a 4-0 run to give the Seahawks their first lead of 9-8. The set remained close until Keiser took their largest lead of 18-13. A Seahawks service error followed to give Concordia momentum back, outscoring Keiser 6-1, and tying it at 19-19. A KU timeout was then called and Keegan answered with a kill to regain a 21-19 advantage. However, Concordia wouldn't go away quietly as they tied it at 21-21 but were unable to hold off Keiser in the end, falling 25-22.
