Match Summary
The No. 4 Keiser women's tennis squad fell to top-seeded and No. 3 SCAD-Savannah this afternoon by the final score of 5-3 in the TSC Championship match.
 
Doubles
  • Megane Bianco and Julianna Heino put the Seahawks on top after the first doubles match concluded as the No. 3 doubles tandem claimed an 8-4 victory over No. 4 Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock.
  • Juliana Goncalves and Teodora Stanciu pushed the Keiser lead to 2-0 following an 8-5 win in the number three slot over Valerie Droop and Julia Albuquerque.
  • Johanna Weber and Karina Rovira avoided the doubles sweep, defeating Samantha Guy and Lorene Foerste, 8-4, in the second doubles hole.
 
Singles
  • SCAD won the first three singles matches in the fourth, first and sixth singles slots to claim the 4-2 advantage in favor of the Bees.
  • Goncalves pulled Keiser to within one as the No. 48 singles player in ITA defeated Rovira, 6-3, 6-4.
  • The match was clinched in the second singles slot following Murdock's 6-4, 6-3 win over Heino to secure the 5-3 victory for SCAD.
 
Coach's Corner
"It always stinks losing a match like this," stated head coach Daniel Finn. "We knew going into it that it would be a battle and both teams stepped up to the challenge today. I am still very proud of these girls and how far they have come this season. This team is learning each day how to compete harder and we are not done yet. Congrats to SCAD today though as they came away with the win. Now we just have to start preparing for a bid into nationals and shift our focus onto fine tuning a few details and prepare for an NAIA tournament run."
