HOW IT HAPPENED
- After neither team recorded a field goal in the first four minutes, Gino Fils-Aime nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 4-4.
- McClenton scored four of the next five points helping the Seahawks retake a 9-4 advantage with 14:18 left in the half.
- JWU closed to within 10-8 but back to back threes by
Stanley Whittaker and
Trystan Pratapas raised the margin to 16-8 at the 11:01 mark.
- The Wildcats cut the deficit to 18-15 when a McClenton layup sparked a 7-2 spurt upping the advantage to 25-17 with 7:14 to go in the period.
- Â After a Wildcats three pointer, Keiser used a 9-3 run to take their largest lead of the game of 34-23 at the 3:52 mark.
- The Seahawks went on to take a 40-32 advantage into the halftime break after a McClenton tip-in at the buzzer.
- In the new half, Johnson & Wales got to within 46-45 at the 13:39 mark but a Zecevic jumper began a 6-2 run, stretching the advantage to 52-47 with 8:59 to go in regulation.
- The Wildcats closed to within 57-54 when McClenton had two consecutive put-backs to raise the margin to 61-54 at the 5:22 mark.
- With the score 66-61 in KU's favor, and 2:11 left in regulation, a Whittaker layup helped Keiser close the game on a 7-2 run to win by a final of 73-63.
