The No. 9 Keiser Women's Tennis was swept by No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday at the GGC Tennis Center in Lawrenceville, Ga.
 
Doubles
  • Georgia Gwinnett claimed the early 1-0 lead when Emerald Able and Margarida Abreu downed Samantha Guy and Lorene Foerste, 8-1, in the No. 3 doubles slot.
  • The Grizzlies lead was doubled when the No. 1 doubles tandem of Chiara Di Salvo and Alyona Vasilyeva upended No. 20 Juliana Goncalves and Teodora Stanciu by the score of 8-0.
  • Georgia Gwinnett swept the doubles points after No. 2 ranked Valeria Podda and Klara Dohnalova defeated No. 9 ranked Megane Bianco and Julianna Heino, 8-4.
 
Singles
  • The Grizzlies' lead was stretched to 4-0 when Able defeated Guy in straight sets from the No. 4 singles slot, 6-0, 6-1.
  • The match was clinched in the No. 3 singles position as the third-ranked Di Salvo bested No. 22 ranked Goncalves, 6-0, 6-2.
  • Despite the match being clinched, Heino had the lead over No. 10 Dohnalova in the No. 2 singles position after claiming the first set, 6-2.
 
Coach's Corner
"Today wasn't our best performance," stated head coach Daniel Finn. "Honestly we came out really flat in doubles and that cost us. When singles started the girls where right in the match but you can't start slow against the top-ranked team in the nation. The ladies have room to grow and are continuing to improve every day. I am confident the best is still to come."
 
Up Next
The No. 9 Seahawks will return to action on Wednesday when Keiser travels to Ave Maria, Fla., to take on Ave Maria in a conference match at 2 p.m.
