Turning Point
The Seahawks pulled to within 27-23 at the 5:13 mark of the second quarter before Bethel answered with a 9-0 run to extend their lead out to 36-23. KU was unable to cut the deficit below four during the remainder of the contest.
How it Happened
- The Seahawks held an early advantage until Bethel tallied five unanswered points to take a 7-3 lead with 5:58 showing.
- Dyson then connected on a jumper to pull within two but the Pilots answered with a 12-5 spurt to extend their margin to 19-10 at the 1:04 mark.
- However, Keiser closed out the frame on a 6-2 run including a Dyson coast-to-coast jumper in the paint at the buzzer to get within 21-16.
- KU climbed to within three on two occasions in the second quarter but were outscored 19-9 and trailed 40-25 at the halftime break.
- The third quarter belonged to Keiser as they outscored Bethel, 17-8, to come all the way to within 48-42, the closest they would get in the second half. In the quarter, Long led the way with seven of her team-best 15 points.
- Bethel regrouped and pushed the margin back out to double figures in the fourth period and went on to defeat the Seahawks, 66-52.
