Keiser Highlights
  • Prior to the contest, Kaylee Patton was honored at midcourt for notching 1,000 career points which she did so on Saturday in the 65-56 victory over Thomas.
  • Patton finished with a game-high 18 points with 4-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
  • Miah Shephard finished the contest with 11 points, while Jamilla Banks Wall ended the game with eight points and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
 
Turning Point
The turning point in tonight's contest came midway through the third quarter of play. Keiser held a 29-25 advantage with 5:43 remaining in the third before racing out on a 10-0 run to claim a 14-point advantage. Kelsi Ash began the run by knocking down back-to-back jumpers, followed by a Midori Long jumper to put the Seahawks ahead by 10. Patton then drained a triple to extend the Keiser lead to 38-25, followed by a Long free throw to cap off the 10-0 run with 2:15 left in the third quarter.
 
How it Happened
  • Keiser took a 2-0 lead through the first two and a half minutes with both points coming from the charity stripe.
  • Following a three pointer by Sara Poehlman that provided the Royals with a 3-2 lead, Keiser scored six unanswered points to take an 8-3 advantage with 3:51 left in the opening quarter.
  • The Royals broke their five-minute scoring drought with a Cierra Wilson layup to cut the Keiser lead to 8-5 with 2:01 left to play in the first.
  • Patton extended the Keiser lead to 14-5 after knocking down back-to-back triples in a span of 35 seconds.
  • Prior to the end of the quarter, Midori Long buried two free throws to give the Seahawks a double-digit lead heading into the second quarter, 16-5.
  • The Seahawks outscored Warner 7-2 in the first four minutes of the second quarter, extending their lead to 23-7 following yet another Patton three.
  • Warner clawed back into the game, going on a 13-0 run that was fueled by eight points from Kaley Schmick, cutting the Keiser lead to just three.
  • Patton ended the Warner run with a layup as the horn sounded to conclude the first half, bringing her first-half total to 14 points.
  • The two squads traded the first two baskets of the third quarter to the keep the five-point differential in favor of the Seahawks.
  • After Warner trimmed the Keiser lead to four, Kelsi Ash quickly doubled the advantage to 33-25 after consecutive jumpers inside the paint.
  • Long extended the Keiser lead to 10 followed by Patton's fourth three of the game to extend the Seahawks lead to 38-25.
  • Claudia Reque buried a triple of her own with 16 seconds remaining in the quarter, leading to the 42-29 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Royals never cut the Keiser lead to less than nine points in the final quarter as the Seahawks cruised to the 59-47 victory.

Inside the Box Score
  • Keiser yielded just five first-quarter points to the Royals, the second fewest points allowed in a quarter all season. The Seahawks held Purdue Northwest to just four points in the second quarter on Nov. 26.
  • The Seahawks outrebounded the Royals by the total of 43-30, including 32 defensive rebounds.
  • Keiser improves to 12-6 which marks the best 18-game start since the 2008-09 season when the Seahawks began the year 15-3.
