The #4 seed Keiser University baseball team defeated #3 seed Webber International 15-4 in seven innings in their Sun Conference opener on Friday evening. The Seahawks advance to play #5 seed Southeastern Fire tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m.Â
- In the first, an RBI walk to Brad Myott and two straight RBI singles by Tyler Goff and Casey Mullennix put Keiser in front 3-0. A fielder's choice by Daniel Arroyo capped the scoring in the inning at 4-0. Keiser then tacked on five more runs in the second inning.
- RBI singles by Brad Myott, Goff, and Mullennix extended the margin to 7-0, and an RBI double to left center by Arroyo pushed the lead to 8-0. A wild pitch scored the final run of the inning making it 9-0.
- The Seahawks then struck again with five runs in the third highlighted by RBI singles by Jack Curtis, Jesus Fuenmayor, and an RBI double to right center by Myott pushing the advantage to 14-0.
- The first pitch to Keivan Berges in the fifth was drilled 450 feet over the center field fence for his 19th of the year, pushing the margin to 15-0.
- Webber broke the shutout in the seventh by plating four runs but the game was called short due to the run rule, winning 15-4.
- All nine starters recorded at least one hit, with Berges having a game high four. The Seahawks outhit the Warriors 17-7 on the evening.
- Kyle Keatts (8-3) threw 3.1 perfect innings before allowing his first base runner on a single. He went on to only allow two hits in six innings with one strikeout.
Last Time Out
The Seahawks swept the Fire in a three game series back at home in late February. Keiser took game one 12-5, game two 9-3, and game three 4-3.
