#RV Baseball Takes Both Games of Doubleheader Against Thomas

The #RV Seahawks baseball team swept Thomas in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Keiser improved to 29-16 overall and 12-6 in Sun Conference play.

Game 1: Keiser defeated Thomas 9-5.
  • Andrew Danner put the Seahawks on the board in the second with a two out RBI triple to left for a 2-0 advantage, but Thomas answered with three in the third for a 3-2 lead.
  • In the bottom half, Keivan Berges singled through the left side and two straight walks to Brad Myott and Tyler Goff loaded the bases with one out. A Jack Curtis RBI single up the middle put Keiser back in front 4-3.
  • Thomas knotted the game at 4-4 in the fifth and took a 5-4 advantage in the seventh with a run. However, a two out RBI double to right center in the seventh by Curtis regave the Seahawks a 6-5 lead. Keiser then upped the margin to 9-5 in the eighth with three runs.
  • Gabby Mundo began the scoring with a one out RBI single to left and Myott plated two more with an RBI double to right to win 9-5. 
  • Steven Bruce (7-0) picked up the winning going seven innings with six strikeouts. Weston Wuthrich grabbed his second save.
  • Curtis went 4-4 at the plate with four runs batted in. The Seahawks outhit Thomas 14-12.

Game 2: The Seahawks took down the Night Hawks 10-7
  • Berges gave Keiser an early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single up the middle, and a two out RBI single up the middle by Danner in the second stretched the advantage to 3-0.
  • Thomas got on the board in the third with a run getting to within 3-1 but a solo homer to center in the bottom half by Myott made it 4-1. The Seahawks then broke the game open in the fourth with six runs.
  • Tyler Goff led off with a double to left and a Jesus Fuenmayor sacrifice bunt moved him to third. Daniel Arroyo then drove him home with an RBI single to right upping the advantage to 5-1. Danner followed with a single, a hit by pitch to Dore loaded the bases and a Mundo RBI single through the right side pushed the margin to 7-1.
  • The first pitch to Myott was hit through the right side upping the lead to 9-1, and an RBI single to right by Curtis made it 10-1.
  • Thomas then plated a run in the fifth, one in the sixth, and four in the eighth but got no closer falling 10-7.
  • All nine starters for the Seahawks had at least one hit in the game.
  • Kyle Keatts (6-3) picked up the win going six innings with three strikeouts. Connor Morrison earned his first save throwing the final inning.

These same two teams will conclude the three game series tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.
