The #19 Keiser University baseball team took game one of a three game set against Ave Maria 8-2 on Friday afternoon in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks improved to 25-11 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
 

• The Seahawks jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first on RBI singles by Brad Myott and Carlos Lopez. The Gyrenes answered with two of their own in the bottom half knotting the game at 2-2.
• In the fourth with two outs, Miguel Casanueva walked and stole second and an RBI single to right by Jesus Fuenmayor put Keiser back in front 3-2.  
• A Keivan Berges solo homer in the eighth upped the lead to 4-2 and a wild pitch pushed the margin to 5-2.
• In the ninth, Berges connected on his second homer of the game this time a three run bomb to win the game 8-2.
• Steven Bruce (6-0) went eight innings with eight strikeouts and only allowed five hits. Cort Miller threw a perfect ninth inning.
• Andrew Danner had a game high four hits, while Berges and Casanueva had two hits apiece.

These same two teams meet tomorrow in a doubleheader with game times set for 11:00 and 1:00.
