#15 Baseball Extends Streak With Sweep of Purdue North Central

The Seahawks baseball team swept a neutral site doubleheader from Purdue North Central on Tuesday afternoon. Keiser moved their winning streak to 12 games and improved their overall record to 19-5.


Game 1: Keiser defeated Purdue North Central 14-3.
  • After a scoreless first inning, the Seahawks erupted with ten runs in the second inning. Carlos Lopez led off with a double down the left field line and scored on a Jack Curtis single up the middle making it 1-0. A Miguel Casanueva RBI single to left center made it 2-0 and a Jesus Fuenmayor double upped it to 3-0.
  • RBI singles by Gabby Mundo and Dylan Dore made it 5-0 and a three run homer to left center by Keivan Berges extended the margin to 8-0. An RBI single by Curtis and a sacrifice fly by Casanueva capped the scoring in the inning to lead 10-0.
  • Keiser extended the advantage to 12-0 in the third on RBI singles by Berges and Brad Myott.
  • The Panthers got three runs in the fourth making it 12-3 before the Seahawks scored two more in the seventh.
  • Casey Mullennix and Berges both singled to lead off and a Myott RBI single through the right side upped the advantage to 13-3.A Luis Paublini sacrifice fly to left capped the scoring in a 14-3 win.
  • Chris Graffeo threw a complete game, striking out six.
  • Berges had a game high four hits helping Keiser outhit their opponents 20-6.
Game 2: The Seahawks edged Purdue North Central 2-1
  • The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first before the Seahawks tied it in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly to center by Myott making it 1-1.
  • The Seahawks went ahead 2-1 in the second on a Mundo RBI single to left field scoring Fuenmayor to win 2-1.
  • Doug Wright moved to 1-0 on the year with his complete game. He struck out nine while only allowing four hits.

Keiser returns to Sun Conference play on Friday when they travel to Florida Memorial. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
