The #15 Keiser University baseball team defeated Florida Memorial 12-1 in game one of a three game series on Friday afternoon. The Seahawks improved to 20-5 overall and 5-2 in Sun Conference play.
 

• After two scoreless innings, Keiser loaded the bases in the third on three straight singles by Gabby Mundo, Dylan Dore, and Keivan Berges. A Carlos Lopez RBI single to short scored Mundo making it 1-0.
• In the fifth, a sacrifice fly by Brad Myott upped the lead to 2-0 and a two run RBI double to left by Tyler Goff doubled the score to 4-0. The Seahawks then added four more runs in the sixth.
• A two run RBI single to left center by Berges pushed the advantage to 6-0 and two run inside the park homerun by Lopez made it 8-0.
• A Mundo sacrifice fly in the seventh plated Daniel Arroyo who reached on a hit by pitch pushing the margin to 9-0.
• The Lions scored a run in the eighth to break the shutout at 9-1 but Keiser answered with three in the ninth. Jack Curtis led off with a single and pinch runner Tim Smith stole second. After a strikeout, Arroyo hit a two run homer making it 11-1. An RBI double by Tyler Hitt capped the scoring with the Seahawks winning 12-1.
• Lopez had three hits helping Keiser outhit Florida Memorial 16-6.
• Steven Bruce picked up the win (5-0) going five innings striking out seven and allowing just two hits.

These same two teams meet tomorrow in a doubleheader with game times set for 11:00 and 2:00.
