#15 Baseball Beats Cumberland 7-4

The #15 Keiser University baseball team extended their winning streak to ten games with a 7-4 victory over Cumberland this afternoon at Embry-Riddle. The Seahawks improved their overall record to 17-5 with the win.
 
  • The Phoenix jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first before the Seahawks answered with two runs in the bottom half.
  • Gabby Mundo led off with a single up the middle and stole second when Keivan Berges hit a home run to left center getting to within 3-2. Keiser then used a four run third to take their first lead of the game.
  • Dylan Dore doubled to left center, Berges was intentionally walked, and Brad Myott singled through the left side to load up the bases. A Carlos Lopez RBI single through the left side knotted the game at 3-3.
  • After the first out was recorded, Jack Curtis cleared the bases with a double down the left field line, taking a 6-3 advantage.
  • In the seventh, Berges led off with a double to left center and advanced to third and scored on two wild pitches upping the lead to 7-3.
  • Cumberland plated a run in the eighth making it 7-4 and loaded the bases in the eighth and ninth but Cort Miller kept them off the board for his first save of the year.
  • Damian Boyum picked up the win moving to 3-1 on the year. Miguel Pena started the game and went 4.2 innings.
  • Berges, Lopez, and Curtis led the way with two hits apiece.

The Seahawks return to action tomorrow when they take on Purdue University North Central in Leesburg, Florida at Pat Thomas Stadium. The doubleheader is set for 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
