#11 Baseball Falls in Doubleheader to #3 Georgia Gwinnett

The #11 Keiser University baseball team fell in both contests to #3 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Seahawks moved to 24-10 overall on the year with the pair of defeats.

Game 1: Georgia Gwinnett won 2-1 in a seven inning contest.
  • Gabby Mundo led off the fourth with a triple to right field and an RBI single to left by Keivan Berges put the Seahawks in front 1-0.
  • The Grizzles answered with a run in the bottom half tying it at 1-1 and scored the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh to prevail 2-1.
  • Mundo had three hits while Berges had the other two Seahawk hits in the game.
  • Kyle Keatts took the loss going the distance while striking out five and only walking one.

Game 2: The Grizzles defeated the Seahawks 5-2.
  • Georgia Gwinnett plated three runs in the first and one in the third for a 4-0 lead before Keiser cut the deficit in half in the sixth.
  • Dylan Dore, Berges, and Brad Myott all singled to load up the bases and a wild pitch scored Dore making it 4-1. Carlos Lopez was then hit by a pitch getting to within 4-2, but the Seahawks were unable to push anymore runs across.
  • The Grizzles tacked on one more run in the seventh to come away with the 5-2 victory.
  • Six different Keiser batters recorded one hit.  Miguel Pena suffered the loss for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks will look to rebound on Tuesday when they travel to St. Thomas for a non-conference contest.
