#15 Baseball Beats #21 Missouri Baptist, Falls to #3 Faulkner



The #15 Keiser University baseball team split their doubleheader on the second day of the Faulkner Tournament. The Seahawks moved to 2-2 overall on the year.

Game 1: Keiser defeated #21 Missouri Baptist 2-1, sweeping the two game set.
  • The Spartans struck first in the second inning with a two out RBI double making it 1-0.
  • Keiser tied it in the fifth inning on a Gabby Mundo RBI fielder's choice platting Casey Mullennix, who led off the inning with a bunt to third.
  • Mullennix tripled to center field to lead off the seventh and two straight intentional walks to Tyler Goff and Miguel Casanueva loaded up the bases. Mundo then walked it off on a sacrifice fly to right field winning 2-1.
  • Kyle Keatts threw a complete game striking out nine, while only allowing three hits.
  • Casanueva and Mullennix both had two hits apiece helping the Seahawks outhit Missouri Baptist 7-3.

Game 2: Keiser falls to #3 Faulkner 8-5, dropping both games to the Eagles on the weekend.
  • Faulkner hit a three run homer to left field in the first with two outs, for a 3-0 advantage. Two straight RBI singles with one out extended the Eagles lead to 5-0.
  • Dylan Dore got the Seahawks on the board in the third when he ripped a ball to third scoring Daniel Arroyo making it 5-1.
  • A one out, two run double to right center by Keivan Berges pushed Arroyo and Mundo across getting to within 5-3 in the fifth.
  • The Eagles got both runs back in the bottom half on a two run homer to center field upping the margin to 7-3.
  • Keiser loaded the bases in the sixth inning when Berges lined the first pitch he saw to center field scoring two runs making it 7-5.
  • Faulkner scored the final run of the game in the sixth on a two out single to left, winning 8-5.

The Seahawks face NCAA Division 2 Lynn University on Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch of the contest is set for 7:00 p.m.
