The #7 and top seed in the conference tournament Keiser University men's basketball team defeated #4 seed Johnson & Wales 79-58 in the semifinals. The Seahawks advance to the conference championship game tomorrow night against the winner of Warner vs. St. Thomas at 7:00.
How it Happened - Keiser led 8-7 when a Stanley Whittaker three pointer sparked an 11-2 run stretching their advantage to 19-9 with 12:43 remaining in the first half.
- Johnson & Wales closed to within 22-14 when a Tyrus Weaver jumper in the paint began a 14-2 push extending the lead to 36-16 with 3:59 to go in the half.
- With the score 39-24, the Seahawks ended the half on a 5-0 run taking a 44-24 lead into halftime.
- Keiser shot 53 percent from the field while connecting on ten three pointers. Andrija Sarenac had a team high three in that time.
- The Wildcats got the closest all half at 55-38 with 11:16 to play but back to back threes by Weaver pushed the margin to 61-38.
- The Seahawks continued to cruise from their going on to win by a final of 79-58. Â
