#15 Baseball Completes Sweep of Southeastern

The #15 Keiser University baseball team swept RV Southeastern in a Sun Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks moved to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in TSC play after sweeping the series.

Game1: Keiser defeated Southeastern 9-3
  • Gabby Mundo led off the first with a double and moved to third on a Dylan Dore single, and Keivan Berges walked to load the bases with no outs. Brad Myott pushed two runs across on an RBI single to right field making it 2-0.
  • A Carlos Lopez RBI groundout made it 3-0 and a Jack Curtis double to left field upped the advantage to 4-0.
  • The Fire plated two runs in third and one in the fifth getting to within 4-3.
  • After the first two Seahawks were retired in the sixth, Lopez and Curtis both singled and scored on a Miguel Casanueva triple to left center pushing the lead to 6-3.
  • In the eighth, RBI doubles by Curtis and Luis Roman made it 8-3 and an RBI single by Casanueva capped the scoring at 9-3. 
  • Kyle Keatts moved to 3-0 going seven innings with seven strikeouts.
  • Curtis led the way with three hits helping outhit the Fire 13-11.

Game 2: The Seahawks won in extra innings 4-3.
  • The Fire scored two runs in the third and one in the fifth for a 3-0 advantage.
  • Berges led off the sixth with a single to left and moved to third on a Myott single through the right side. Lopez then followed with an RBI single through the left side making it 3-1.
  • The first three Seahawks reached in the seventh and Berges brought two in on an RBI single to left field tying the game at 3-3. Neither team scored again forcing the game into extra innings.
  • Curtis walked in the tenth and moved to third on a throwing error off a fielder's choice. Daniel Arroyo won the game with a walk off RBI single up the middle winning 4-3.
  • Berges and Lopez had two hits apiece helping outhit Southeastern 12-4.
  • Austin Wilson picked up the win going 1.2 innings. Weston Wuthrich started the game and went five innings only allowing one hit.
