The Keiser University women's basketball team fell short against Warner 72-70 in their final regular season home game on Thursday evening. The Seahawks moved to 14-14 overall and 7-8 in Sun Conference play.
How it Happened - Warner led 17-9, when a Desirai Smith free throw started a 15-3 run capped by a Claudia Reque three pointer, putting Keiser ahead for the first time at 24-20 with 7:59 left in the second quarter.
- Seven lead changes followed but the Seahawks ended the half on a 6-0 run for a 39-34 advantage.
- Keiser took their largest lead of the game of 50-42 at the 5:03 mark, but the Royals fought back to tie the game at 54-54 heading into the final quarter.
- Warner went in front 70-61 with one minute to go in regulation, when a Courtney Murphy basket sparked a 7-2 run getting to within 72-68 with 11 seconds left.
- Murphy was then fouled on a three pointer sending her to line with three seconds to go. She made the first two and missed the third intentionally and Reque came up with the rebound, but her put back came up short as time expired.
