#15 Baseball Takes Two From #23 Bryan

The #15 Keiser University baseball team swept #23 Bryan College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks improved to 6-3 overall after their first sweep of the year.


Game 1: The Seahawks defeated the Lions 9-3 in a seven inning contest.
  • Brad Myott scored Gabby Mundo from second on an RBI single for a 1-0 lead in the first.
  • A Seahawks passed ball in the third allowed Bryan to tie the game at 1-1. However, Keiser answered in the bottom half with back to back RBI doubles to right center by Keivan Berges and Tyler Goff, retaking a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Lions got a run back in the fourth getting to within 3-2, but a Mundo double to right center upped the lead to 4-2.
  • A Carlos Lopez RBI single to center in the fifth extended the margin to 5-2. Bryan scored their final run in the sixth on a homerun to right field making it 5-3, but the Seahawks broke the game open in the bottom half with four runs.
  • RBI singles by Mundo and Berges scored three runs and a bases loaded walk to Casey Mullennix capped the scoring, winning 9-3.
  • Weston Wuthrich picked up the win going five innings, striking out five batters.
  • Mundo, Berges, and Goff had two hits apiece.

Game 2: Keiser defeated Bryan 11-1 in a mercy ruled game.
  • RBI singles in the first and second by Goff and Mundo gave Keiser an early 2-0 lead. Bryan scored their lone run of the game in the third on a single to right field making it 2-1.
  • Myott led off the third with a single to right center and scored on a Brandon Crawford homer to right field upping the lead to 4-1.
  • Lopez singled through the left side in the fifth pushing Crawford across for a 5-1 advantage.
  • In the sixth, with two outs, the Seahawks loaded the bases and back to back walks to Goff and Crawford stretched the lead to 7-1. Lopez then cleared the bases with a double to center field pushing the advantage to 10-1.
  • Tyler Hitt capped the scoring with a single down the right field line platting Lopez for the 11-1 victory.
  • Miguel Pena threw a complete game, striking out two for his first win of the year.
  • Mundo and Lopez both had three hits helping the Seahawks outhit the Lions 12-6.

Up Next
Keiser kicks off Sun Conference play by traveling to South Carolina Beaufort for a three game series. A doubleheader is set for Friday at 11:00 and 2:00 and then a single game on Saturday at 12:00.
