The #8 Keiser University women's tennis team played a four hour plus dual match against #39 NCAA Division II Palm Beach Atlantic falling 7-2 to open the season.
The Sailfish jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind strong play at #1 and #3 doubles. However, the #13 ranked double teams of
Teodora Stanciu and
Lola Garcia got the Seahawks on the board with a thrilling 9-8(2) win, entering singles down 2-1.
Once singles play started, Keiser battled across the board early before PBA asserted themselves grabbing #5, #3, and #6 to get the needed five points to secure the dual.
Stanciu would certainly not go quietly in her match saving nine match points before falling 6-3, 6-1 upping the deficit to 6-1.
The next match would definitely be an exciting one at #1 singles, when
Laura Ortega went the distance before falling 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(8) and extending the PBA advantage to 7-1.
The day ended on a high note as Garcia came from behind for a victory at #4 singles winning 5-7, 6-1, 1-0(0) and made the final score 7-2.

Daniel Finn said, "I definitely saw a lot of areas where we can improve on moving forward. But I will say that I'm really proud of the way the girls competed and fought. We will continue focusing on the process of just getting better every day and get ready for next match coming up against a good Middle Georgia team next week."
The Seahawks travel to Cochran, Georgia on Monday evening for a 1:00 p.m. match.
