Turning Point
Southeastern's 10-1 run in the fourth quarter proved to be the turning point in today's contest. The Fire led by 15 in the third quarter but the Seahawks chipped away at the deficit, trimming the Fire lead to just one. Leading 60-59 with 8:14 left in the game, the Fire went on the 10-1 run over the next six minutes to take the 10-point lead with 2:47 remaining in the contest. Keiser was unable to overcome the late run, falling by the final score of 78-65.
 
How it Happened
  • For the first time all season, Southeastern trailed at the end of the first quarter as Keiser held a narrow 15-14 advantage.
  • The two squads traded the first four baskets as both teams knocked down triples to even the contest at five apiece.
  • Keiser then claimed the brief 7-5 lead after Dominique Winbush's jumper, assisted by Jamilla Banks Wall.
  • Following a Southeastern three pointer, Hannah Del Negro knocked down a triple of her own to reclaim the Keiser lead, 10-8.
  • The Fire and Seahawks were knotted at 14-14 until Princess Cole buried a free throw to claim the 15-14 first quarter advantage.
  • The second quarter began the same way the first one ended with both squads trading baskets.
  • With Keiser ahead 19-18 with 7:19 remaining in the first half, Southeastern raced out to a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to claim the eight-point lead.
  • Del Negro put an end to the scoreless drought with a knock down triple to trim the Fire lead to five.
  • Southeastern went on to outscore the Seahawks 9-5 over the final stretch of the first half, taking the 36-27 lead at the break.
  • The Seahawks cut the lead to seven before Bailey Hooker drained consecutive threes following a layup by Strawbridge to give the Fire a 15-point lead.
  • With 4:42 remaining in the third quarter, trailing by 15, Keiser went on a much-needed 12-1 run over the next two minutes to cut the Southeastern lead to just four, 53-49.
  • Kaylee Patton scored 10 of Keiser's 12 points during the Seahawks spurt, including five from the charity stripe.
  • Patton came up huge at the end of the quarter, netting five more points and assisting on the Del Negro layup before the buzzer to trim the Southeastern lead to just two.
  • Southeastern's Ana Richter netted the first basket of the final quarter to take the four-point lead before Patton drained three free throws after being fouled shooting beyond the arc.
  • Southeastern led 60-59 before going on a late 10-1 run to take the 70-60 advantage with 2:47 remaining left in the game.
  • The Fire held on to the double-digit advantage, winning 78-65.
